Pursuit Grooves (Tectonic)
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010
Pinch’s Tectonic label has arguably been one of the most fundamental “dubstep” labels out there. Always consistent and with the highest of quality control. Being home to such classics as 28g, Cyrus’ From The Shadow LP, Ironman and more recently the output of Dave Huisman’s 2562 alias (not to mention countless other works!).
The latest release on the label steps into a fresh direction and into new territory with a 7 track album by Brooklyn based producer/vocalist/live performer, Vanese Smith aka Pursuit Grooves. It’s a cohesive blend of soul, hip hop and funk (and im sure lots of other influences) – not what you would expect from Tectonic, and it certainly doesn’t sound like anything Tectonic have released in the past (bar maybe Flylo’s ‘Glendale Galleria’). That said it definitely stays aligned with Tectonic’s sonic aesthetic, which is essential.
The album is entitled ‘Fox Trot Mannerisms’, you can check out all 7 tracks below;
The album is available now in both CD and 12″ format, check out the record shop links on the right hand side —– >>
